NASA released stunning photography of Dione, a moon of Saturn, moving ahead of the planet, right in front of the linear projection of the characteristic planetary rings.

The picture was taken with green visible spectrum technique, thanks to a camera on the unmanned Cassini spacecraft, which is orbiting Saturn since 2004. Thanks to this space mission, it had already been possible to get pictures of survey quality, both satellite Dione, like other moons around Saturn.

Dubbed 'Dione on the rings' image it is part of a series of photographs accumulated during the observation of astronomical phenomenon transit. The job turns out to be essential for measuring and calculating the orbits of the planets and their moons, contributing to the deepening of knowledge of the atmospheres and celestial objects, it says NASA said in a statement.

In the middle of last August, Cassini made its latest approach to Dione. It is likely that the final destination is precipitated on the surface of Saturn, what will happen between now and the next two years.
