Berlin (Germany) .- The malicious programs that target mobile phones with the Android operating system are becoming more common, and some are already infected at the time of sale. A report by German security firm G Data says that infected samples increased by 25% in the second quarter compared with the first.
According to the report analysts identified a new strain of malware every 14 seconds. Some phones from manufacturers such as Huawei and Xiaomi contain modified apps designed to spy on users or display advertising.
G DATA spokesman, Christian Lueg, said the phone apparently were installed by intermediaries, but to seek the source "lost track in China." Users can detect the malware with free software.
