The recent announcement by Hamas on the capture of a spy dolphin, allegedly sent by the Israeli intelligence service, joins a growing list of animals used as spies.

The dolphin captured by the "Islamic Resistance Movement" revives an old human tradition: the use of animals for international espionage. It is that, so sometimes successful, sometimes quirky, history records a long list of animals used as spies. These are some of the best known cases:

-Palomas: Perhaps because they have served as messengers of humanity for centuries, until today, the doves will not cause major surprise in the list of animal spies. The most recent case in India, happened four years ago, when the police arrested a pigeon with a Pakistani address printed on your body.

-Delfines And sea lions: the case of the dolphin captured by Hamas joins the dolphins and sea lions trained by the Ukrainian Navy in Crimea, ready to spring into action in combat missions and espionage, armed with poisonous darts and electronic equipment .

-Ardillas: In 2007, Iran arrested 14 squirrels, allegedly equipped with eavesdropping devices. While there were no formal charges against any country, the world's eyes fell on the Western powers.

-Gatos: During the 1960s, the CIA was able to work on the project named "acoustic cat", which involved the deployment of listening devices in cats using their tails as an antenna.

-Insects: Currently, the United States is working on a hybrid project involving insects, implanted nano-mechanical systems. This is a new generation of true cyborgs, marauding the most sensitive targets for intelligence services.
