The storage company Western Digital announced Thursday an agreement to buy the maker SanDisk flash memory devices by 19,000 million (16,700 million), a major technological operations in history. The new conglomerate will control much of the market for storage devices and memory sticks.
According to the financial terms of the transaction, will be done with a combination of cash and shares, Western Digital will pay $ 86.50 for each share of SanDisk, which represents a premium of 8.6% over the closing of its share price. "This transformative purchase aligns with our long-term strategy to be a leading innovator in the storage industry," he said in announcing the deal Western Digital CEO, Steve Milligan.
The transaction must still be approved by the shareholders of SanDisk and receive regulatory approval, as the company said in a statement, in which he confided to close the deal in the first half of next year.
